[NTM 13,085] Permissible variations17
17
(2) The variation of the standard of measurement from its denomination stated in the certificate issued by the Director shall be determined to an uncertainty that is equal to or better than the maximum permissible uncertainty for that standard prescribed in Table 3.
TABLE 3
STANDARDS OF MEASUREMENT
A. Length — flexible line standards
Length | Maximum Permissible Uncertainties | Maximum Permissible Variations
Primary | Secondary | Reference 1 | Reference 2 | Reference 1 | Reference 2
Up to 10 m | ± 0.1 mm | ± 0.2 m m | ± 0.5 mm | ± 1.5 mm | ± 1.5 mm | ± 5.0 mm |
Over 10 m | ± 0.001% | ± 0.002% | ± 0.005% | ± 0.015% | ± 0.015% | ± 0.05% |
B. Length — rigid line standards, up to 2 metres
Length | Maximum Permissible Uncertainties (± mm) | Maximum Permissible Variations (± mm)
Primary | Secondary | Reference 1 | Reference 1
Up to 500 mm | 0.01 | 0.02 | 0.05 | 0.15 |
Over 500 mm and up to 1,000 mm | 0.01 | 0.02 | 0.05 | 0.2 |
Over 1000 mm and up to 2,000 mm | ......................... | ......................... | 0.7 | 0.2 |
The maximum permissible uncertainties and maximum permissible variations apply to the length between any 2 scale marks on the standard.
